1986 200X Help

I just got a pretty decent 86 200X. It's nice! Got a few questions...

It needs a new seat. Service Honda says they are still available....true? Would an 85 seat pan work on the 86?

My bike didn't come with the keyed ignition or dash.....did all 86's have those?

Anything major I should know about the 86 200X???

parts are hard to come by and if im not mistaken the 87s were the only one with keys. 85 and 86 are completely different animals, but i would not bet that it fits. theres ebay cushions and covers all day long, not sure about the plastic under it though.

The 87 seat was available last year, I bought a few :D

200$ a pop and guys were selling them for 500$

86 is the same mounting just says ATC on the side but it's discontinued.......

ALLOT of parts got discontinued last year, if you put in the part number and it gives you a price, they should still have them.

The 1987 seat is an exact match except it does not have the "ATC" stencil on the sides. The 1987 seats are still available from Honda and are a perfect fit and shape. cheapcycleparts.com might be the cheapest in price or bikebandit and you may want to browse other Honda dealerships for the best deal. Like Dirtcrasher said, alot of parts have been discontinued on for the Honda ATC's lately. Some parts are limited stock that they do not make anymore once they are gone they are gone and other small ATC parts are being made only because they are for new models year ATV's.

By the way,FULLBORE INOVATIONS will making reproduction headlight shells for the 87-87 ATC200X but I am still waiting on the donor shell I bought. Once I get it I will ship it to them and hopefully we will have these in a month or so, they will come in red, white etc, but will probably be made to order.

Are the 83-85 seat pans the same of the 86-87 seat pans??? I see some advertised on ebay that will "fit all years". I used to own an 85 200X, but it was a while ago and I can't remember what the seat looked like. Same?

I am pretty sure the seat pans are bifferent on the 83-85 200X VS 86-87 200X. yOU CAN BUY A NEW oem seat from honda for just over 200 bucks, cheapcycle parts.com may have a good price, just check on the web for other Honda atv parts delaers. the seat is IDENTICAL except it does not have the " ATC" emblem on the sides that is the ONLY differece and it is a current oem honda replacement seat. There is a member here who can put the "ATC' on the sides for you if you prefer.

Thanks man. I am trying to keep the cost down. I just bought this thing for $750. Bought new Maier plastics and about $100 worth of seal and such from Service Honda. It's going to be a definite rider for my 15 yo sister-in-law, but I want it to look nice and be safe.

Great! I just got my 350X seat back from them....excellent work. I wonder is they have the 200X pan, too? For whatever reason, the seat pan I have was cut, but I may try to use it....if I take some pics and post them here, could you tell me how much is cut off? If it's minimal, I can probably use the pan I have.

Ok...the top of the pan has been trimmed (don't know why). My question is - how much was trimmed and is it still usable? If I go this route and try to use it, I don't want it to not fit right or look crappy. Thanks!

I thought of one other question....will an 85 Kickstart Assembly fit and 86 200X??? The one on the bike I got will not fold back (it was welded at the joint). I think I have an 85 laying around, but I am waiting on a new rear fender so I can't see if things line up.

also my seats the same way...the very end of it is cut off...dosent look half bad...just dosent go all the way up the tank
