I bought a big red from my brother in law. It suits my needs perfectly but I need to replace the brakes as currently they don't work at all.

Here's what I know about the atv. It's a Honda big red. It has shaft drive with reverse but no lo/hi range selector, it has a R-N-LS-1-2-3-4 transmission. It had electric start (but doesn't work now) and a kick start backup which works perfectly!

I have no idea on engine size or year...There are no identifying tags I can find anywhere...It's in rough shape but runs and rides perfectly.
I'd like to buy a brake rebuild kit so I need to know the correct model information. I would also like to know where the best place to buy parts for 3 wheelers online is. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

I've attached some pictures of the atv to help.102787102786102785102784

Man that is a 250cc Big Red, looks like mine, mine is an 85 model, look on the front of the trike, factory tag may still be there that has all info! Tag is located on frame behind front tire, usually up, kinda behind headlight, but on frame in front of motor!

Yes it is a Big Red 250, made 85-87. Check out http://atcvin.webs.com to find the year.

You most deffenetly have a 250es big red as already said above. If you can post a pic of your swingarm i can tell you if its a 85 or 86 model because they are different and its a clear way to tell them apart.

allright guys! that did it, after looking more for a tag after the description on where to look I found it! It was covered in dirt and grime and at first glance I saw nothing but after some windex I was able to read it.

It's a 1985 250es, manuf. 8/84.

So...now that that's settled where is the best place to buy a brake rebuild kit online?102791

you just probably need pads. unless the cable is froze up. Pads usually come with the springs. take the pivot arm out, clean, and grease, put your new pads in, and your good. pads and cables can be found anywhere. Check ebay if you like. i prefer oem cables.
