Yep, I ride it almost every day. I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to license it for the street with 4 wheels, so what you see is the result...

I'm lookin' at it right now. I'll bet you can burn the hell out of that single rear tire. Nice job

What state are you in and where are the loopholes that allowed you to do this?

I have that issue and saw your setup. It looks pretty sweet especially that swingarm. Did you fabriacate it yourself? How much would you charge for another one? Also what did you use for signal lights and such? My buddy just bought an '03 Raptor and maybe I can talk him into doing the same thing. How did you get it registered in Cali? I live in San Diego.......ya I know already the Chargers and Padres suck.

I'll try to answer the questions in order...

bbechtel16 - I am in California. I didn't use any "loopholes", just followed the laws as outlined by the CHP and DMV. In California and most other states, 3 wheels or less classifies the vehicle as a motorcycle. The legal requirements for a MC are far easier to comply with than a four wheel vehicle. Once I provided our DMV with all receipts, a MC safety inspection from a dealer and a picture of the converted Raptor, they took it from there and issued a plate. My recommendation would be to take the special construction vehicle route that the custom MC builders use to avoid confusion, and after Jan. 1st 2004 this will be the only option in Ca..

yardbird - The concept and design are mine, but the machine work was done by a local machinist. Due to the interest shown by other Raptor owners, I have invested in tooling to offer kits with the first production units being available by the end of this month. The targeted price is not set at this time, but will probably be around $1700 for swingarm, hub, and sway bar(required). My website streetlegalatv.com will be updated soon with the latest info.. As for the signal lights, I used Baja designs for the rear and Acerbis handguard/blinker combo for the front.

atccrazy - Thanks for turning me on to this forum!

Okay...now thats just a motorcycle with training wheels, does it lean when cornering? It cant corner very well. Here in michigan the sec of states only requirement is that atv's have "live" axles and thus cannot ride on roads. So get rid of "live" axle, get a diff and good to go, I would think.

Hmm... It handles like a quad with a better turning radius, and no, it doesn't lean like a MC.

I do business in Mi. regularly, and picked up the equipment check list from the secretary of state office for three and four wheel vehicles (unit "A" and "B"). In addition to the differential, the safety glass sufficient size to protect driver and passengers, windshield wiper and washer, and safety belt requirements might make the project more difficult for four wheel use than you indicated. If there is a provision for ATV's, the office I visited in Paw Paw didn't know about it (nor did the MSP). Do you have better information?

Can you make me one of those rear swingarms if I give you measurements or maybe some plans that you can give me?

Well actually I wanted it to be for a Hond 350x like the old Missile kits for three wheelers, but if it is going to cost that much than, I can't afford it. Thanks, though.
