I just got a Tri-Z in that has a bad top end. It is all taken apart. I have never worked on one of these in this much detail. Since it has been sitting for 6 years, no gas/oil/ AF, what is there to look out for on this specific model? Bottom end is intact, top end off, just a rod sticking out.
If anyone has any right side, left side, front and back photos of just a stock motor complete with all attatchments, please post them here.
Thanks

don' t know how much you know but I would start with check crank rod bearing, flushing out the crank really well. I've known people with fresh rebuilds on Z's and went back for round 2 shortly after for not cleaning it out good. the heads or top of the jugs? are prone to warp age for not being torqued right. I would also check clutch and see if they are sticking together from sitting so long.
also have cooling issues with water pump and thermostat.
then do a leak down test

Yeah, Check the water pump. They're known for the impeller coming loose on the shaft, you'll overheat and cook the engine. You can pin the stock ones or contact Sprock Racing and get a new machined one.
