Louieville Slugger silencer, redneck enginered

so my buddy had a 110 with a custom exhaust, wish i still had pics. It was a kids louieville slugger and this is how it was constructed: the handle was cut off and about 100 holes drilled in it, the top end of the bat- fat end- had been drilled out for the handle to fit in, with the pumel of the handle flush with the top it has a good tig weld and a hole drilled in the end. Where the handle was cut off was the perfect slip fit on the old head pipe. This was a full aluminum silencer that fit nicely under in the 110 chassie. Anyone else got one of these? It worked awsome for a $5 bat and had a killer sound, more power than stock but less than a $200 Cobra.

i did in a way, my girlfriend says im married to my bikes. No i make nice Myrtlewood fish knokers with lead cores on my wood lathe, gave one to my fellow rider and his girlfriend beet him up with it- broke his eye socket.

i might make one of these my buddy's big red, it needs a new exhaust and this sounds sweet.

i'v saw it done once on a buggy-sandrail too. It was a full size softball bat and it was gnarly sounding. With some measuring i bet you can get a good tight fit when you reverce the handle into the top of the bat- at both ends. bet you could make it rebuildable too.

Saying it was quieter than a Cobra is not saying much. The shape of a bat would probably be good for performance, but I would put the holes out on the big end of the bat.

I have a DG on my 84 200x and it is way too loud for me, great performance though. I am thinking of making a baffle insert to quiet it down, maybe something like this:

I like the way JEGS says the auger style insert has "excellent noise control". I've seen these on Late Model stock cars and you can hear them from miles away.

I plan to drill holes in the pipe section and cap the end of the pipe on the engine side. I also plan to drill holes in the "augers" so that the exhaust gases have to really slow down before they exit the pipe.

So the idea I got from it was that a pipe with the equivalent of big fender washers welded to it, might make a good baffle if holes are drilled in them.
