found this 200x at the local bike shop rotting nito the ground, and i couldnt let that happen.I traded a snap on torqe wrench for it(i have three) then we made a deal for a lifan engine out of a 2008 street bike that was wrecked with a little over 700 mlies on it. the pics show 2 weeks progress.I stripped the frame to bare metal and got rid of all the rust pits.Im thinking of white plastics and am going to try to make the tank shroud out of carbon fiber.

I like the engine! Is that a CRF230F reman Lifan or a 200? I just saw the Electric start and wondered if it was a 230.

Does that engine bolt right in? How is the power compared to the stock 200x engine?

engine is a direct bolt in,the dipstick is in a different location so its a little tricky to remove, you have to use the 200x carb and intake tube as the lifan carb has a larger throat and the intake tube points right at the frame. If you set the two engines side by side, they are virtually identical, some very minor differences. The original 200x engine needed a top overhaul and the left case was damaged(chain departing the sprocket?)so I figured this was the way to go.My local bike shop/parts guy told me that lifan has been making parts for honda for decades so i am not really worried about reliability/quality issues...yet

Really? Direct bolt in? Hmm. So what should I be looking for if I wanted to get one of those engines?

Your restore looks awesome! Love the frame color. Cant wait to see how this looks when done.

I think there is a difference between some lifan 200cc engines.I read a bunch of posts on here about lifan and some say that there is a difference between the ohv and ohc engines dimensionaly. If you need,I will see if I can get a model number off my engine and i will probrably see my parts guy in the next couple of days(hes holding my 250R captive)and I will ask him.For what its worth he is also a lifan dealer
