I read a couple of posts here about the 175 top end swap, and now i'm very eager to try it.
Just have a few questions about it. Whats the difference between the it, dt, & the mx?
Which one do I look for and what year do I need? And what all do I need?
Just trying to get a list together, so I can start collecting the parts. Any other info. or tricks would also be appreciated. mahalos.....
oh yeah what about the carb do I just use my stock one?

The mx and the yt top ends are exactly alike. I have no idea about the dt top end. The it top end has way bigger porting and bettter port timing and that is what you want. The years of parts you are looking for is 77 and 78, not sure about 76 though. The mx175 has the clutch and gearing you want. You need to find the 77 and 78 in the mx175 so you can get the clutch assembly out of it. The transmission main shaft is narrower in the mx175 though. If they were the same you could just bolt the mx175 lower end into the
yt175, but the mx175 front sprocket won't line up with the yt175 rear sprocket even though the engines are a direct bolt in. That is why you have to mix and match parts to have the manual clutch.

So all I need is the it 175 cylinder, piston, and head?
What about the reeds cage?, And the carb? Do I just use the one from my yt 175?
thanks Vealmonkey.

You don't have to use another reed cage if you don't want to, but the optiion is yours. I really need to get my engine put together.
