Honda 250SX Questions

I searched the forum but didn't find my answer. What fluid should be used in the rear axle on the 85 250SX? I looked inside and it was full but looked thin and dirty. Also where can I find an inexpensive reverse cable and has anyone here ever thought of modifying the reverse with a different type shift style? I was thinking about making a short pull-up cable that would spring back and maybe mount it on the side somewhere above where the cable goes in. Just a thought!

Is it something that Wal-Mart has or do I need to get it from a Auto parts store?

wally world may have it, but any parts store worth its salt would have it...... most marine lower unit gear lubes would work well, can be found in the right viscosity and is hypoid, plus it has extra corrosion inhibitors in it for marine applications......little more pricey though, bout 10 bucks a qt

Does anyone know about the rear bearings on a 85 250sx? Are there 2 different sizes for the left and right? Also is there a difference in years...85 vs 86 and 87? Thanks in advance
