So I pretty much left the 200x wiring harness (electrical) on the x when I installed the 81' 200 motor. Right now I have a 200x carb and spark plug (dr8es-L), should I run the 81' 200 plug? (What is the 81' plug if I need to). I have the open uni filter plugged in, should I put the air box back on? Runs o.k., but could be smoother, some times it idles some times it dies, heck, it is over 25 years old.:)

I'd probably clean and rebuild the carb, sounds like an airway may be plugged or plugging. Anyway, rebuilding the carb would be the first step and proper adjustment from there. I always run an air box, lid off with a Uni or K&N filter element.

When I built mine. I used the 200x Carb, and the 200 plug (I believe that the 200x plug is the same) And the factory 200x air box.

O.k., thanx fellas. I did what I was told. The only thing swapped was the motor. 200x carb, boot, plug, wiring, and all mounting hardware. I also did what RapidRick said and put back on the stock airbox (holes all ready drilled in cover). I'm at 4700ft so I moved the clip second from the top (top made it bog) and turned the air/fuel screw another 1/8 turn. It quieted it down and runs much smoother, does not die at idle as quick and will actually idle when it wants to. I used up all my new and decent plugs so I bet it will idle after I go to town and get more plugs.

Glad it seems to be working for you.

how much more power do you get running an open box?
