Hi guys, i've just joined having purchased my firt three wheeler for my children to play on but have already got problems, the trike is a 85 honda 70, it runs for about 5 secs before stopping , when i check for a spark there is none but if i leave it a while the spark magicaly returns for around 5 secs again :wondering, any ideas would be most welcome. :) i've checked the stator resistance and the coil, checked the points and replaced the condensor (granted this was with an old one as i'm not sure how to test it)

Sure the coil isnt bad? They don't cost that much...change that out and see what happens...

Have you changed your plug?

Yeah tried a plug from my honda 90 just to see if it was the plug but still no spark, i'm thinking it's maybe a faulty stator, there ain't much to the 70 electrics and the stator has got a bit of a rough rewire job on it, funny how the spark seems to come and go. I'll head out tomorow and get a brand new plug just incase but i don't think it'll help unfortunatly:(:(:(

85 atc 70 has points... do you have a trx70 cdi? it won't fit.. the crank is different and the flywheel won't bolt on...

Well i managed to sort the problem, got a loan of a stator from a friend, fitted it, gave it one pull of the cord and it's run all afternoon!!! Well chuffed.
