I know this sounds weird, but I have an idea. How hard would it be to take the motor/tranny from a 83 honda 185 and build a motorcycle? I'm talking a cheap one. would it be easiest to just find an old motorcycle on craigslist and rig the 185 motor up to it? Seems like it would need to be light for the 185 to pull it good. Maybe build it from bicycle frames? hahaha. just wondering what y'all think.

What kinda frame should I use? Motorcycle frames are expensive and heavy.

A 185 engine will probably bolt right up to some honda bikes with little modifications. XR200R, XL185, CRF230, etc.

the motor itself is in decent condition, needs new clutch plates and rings, but other than that its good. The frame is bent pretty bad though. Maybe I could find a decent dirtbike frame like you said? I would prefer a street bike though.

Later on this week or so I'll be picking up a bike at the junk yard, it has a frame the engine would bolt into, since I will be using the engine for my 200X. I'll let you know once I get it. I would sell the frame for cheap but it would be expensive to ship. From looking at chinese engines it appears the Honda CM200 had the same engine mounts as 185/200 threewheeler engines. The Honda CM200 is a street bike also called the Twinstar, predecessor to the Rebel. Make me wonder if even a Rebel has similar mounts. There will be a lot out there you can use.

But I wouldn't try to use a bicycle frame. Not near strong enough.

a rebel bobber with a 200 would be cool.....especially with a rigged up thumb throttle

What kind of frame is the one that you will be getting? Street bike or dirt bike? Yes, a 185 bobber would be awesome, but only after the engine has been modded to make some more power :p

It's an older enduro. I will see exactly what it is when I get it.
