so ive got this 87 200x and it needs some help.
ive noticed that 87 parts are particularly hard to find, which makes em high dollar.

basically what rear brake system off of another bike will swap over to the 87 200x? a caliper from honda is 500 bucks and the ones on ebay are 100 and change. i have a hard time stomaching that price tag.

is there a newer model upgraded caliper and master that i can put on there? :wondering

also quality of the maier fenders? they look good in the ebay listing, but how do they peform in the real world. fitment, flexibility, color, and what not.

help is surely appreciated! thanks!

Well here is what I can tell you. Maier fenders are good fenders. They are not as good as OEM fenders but they are certainly not bad. I haven't seen 86-87 fenders but from the early model fenders I can tell you that the color is not a direct match of the OEM fender but is close. I don't think the fit is as perfect as OEM either but I think it's a good fit.

As for the caliper, I assume you know the 86 caliper were the same. I don't know what other model's calipers would fit. If you still have a brake system for it, I'm fairly certain rebuild kits are still available for them and they're not that hard to rebuild.

thanks for the reply, and maier fenders ought to be good enough for me. im going to ride this one. color is not so important but the covering of the tire is.

my rear brake system consists of a broken resi, maybe salvagable master, good brake hose, fubared caliper, rough rotor. i would like to just swap it to newer parts but might just bite the bullet and buy ebay ones. i prefer good used parts over crappy new ones.
