There is a 350x that i am very interested in buying. I just now 5 minutes ago found the add online. The guy says it's an 86 model. The plastic looks original, but I haven't got to ask yet. The plastic is red though. I thought all 1986 350x's were white? Am I wrong? are there some 86's out there with oem red plastic?

all 350x's came out of the factory with white fenders so the fender must of been from another bike or ordered.

Wrong! 85 350x's had red fenders, 86 had white. They will interchange between years. The easiest ways to tell an 85 from an 86 is the clutch cable comes into the motor from the front on the 85 and from the left side on an 86. Also, the 85 has a link to hold the rear caliper in place while on the 86 it's incorporated into the mounting bracket.

What do you mean "a link to hold the rear caliper in place."? I can't imagine what your talking about.

Instead of the caliper just simply bolting on to the bracket that encircles the axle carrier, the 85 had a torque arm that bolted on to the swingarm.
