I got spongy front brakes, Help

86 250r I got new pads all the floating parts on the caliper are free new braided line and no air in the line. What else causes that. Its been like that since I've got it. The only thing I did to to caliper was take out the orings and clean the corrosion out and I did notice the pistons fit very tight. Could them not going back be leaving air in there I cant bleed out. They work fine just that the lever goes to the bar to stop.

did you do anything with the master? they sell rebuild kits for master cylinders. that would be my next step as long as your sure there's no air in the line

Well I took it for a ride ane the brakes are 50% better but they are a little spongy yet. I think it could use a master and caliper rebuild then I know its goo for a long time.

Try this: take the master cylinder cover off, crack the bleeder open and put a piece of tubing over the nipple, leave the bleeder open and dont touch the lever, wait for gravity to do it's thing, keep topping off the master cylinder(don't let it run out of fluid), the fluid should continually rise in the tubing, give the lever a couple pumps, now close the bleeder, pump your brakes. If you still don't gain any firmness in the lever then you most likely need to rebuild the master cylinder.

after about an hour and countless suggestions and a quart if fluid, we took off the master
and bled it in thin air.off of the bars

apparently there was not enough throw in the master piston to bleed correctly
so we got it working in less than 5 min

Mine has been a little soft since I got it in '89. It's all stock and has never been apart. If there's air in it, it would have had to been there when new. Should the front be as rock hard as the rear when applied?

My fronts are all rebuilt and stop hard and fast, but the rear is always an axle drager......

If you have any moisture in your brake fluid at all, it will become air once its gets warm enough
