I have an 85 ATC 70 that is locked in neutral.Have checked clutch adjustment. When I lift up on the shift lever I get a ticking sound.Any ideas? (bike is a 4 speed-shifts up) Thanks for your input.

I have kind of a temporary butch fix for that. Look at your neutral indicator and see if it has gone past the little "N" for neutral. If it looks like it has, take the little plastic dial off of the neutral indicator shaft and put a set of vise-grips on it. Give it a turn in the direction it's supposed to go when you shift to first gear and it may pop out of neutral. If this works, change the oil ASAP. It may fix it temporarily, or it may never happen again.

I am of course assuming that your chain didn't fall off or some obvious shite like that.

EVERY single 4 stroke Honda seems to have shifting flaws. NOT internal (center case) but usually external. Pull off the cover that shows the goods and the problem will appear..........

Studs, springs, rollers, pawls etc etc all seem to be a weak-point...............

My Hondas haven't ever had shifting problems, nor have my dads... :wondering
