I finally got my 350x motor back from the mechanic... I needed the counter shaft replaced, the PO welded the sprocket on. While it was apart, it got alot of stuff done: cylinder hone, new piston and rings, valves done, crank bearings, all new seals, complete gasket set, and I dunno what else. I got the motor in tonight and everything hooked back up, and I have spark, and fuel in the carb, but it won't fire, not even a pop, and this was a one kick engine before it went to the shop. It kind of feels like the compression release is always on... any ideas?

check your valve adjustments before you take any big measures...

I'd give it to me and end all the stress :)

I'd start with checking the rocker arm adjustment and the cam timing. Maybe the jets are plugged up in the carb?

try priming it right into the cyllender a little bit, if it starts on that prime, it might might work some gas in and run alright, if that wont work, either valve adjust or carb adjust

When my 350x doesn't start its the kill switch. I know you said you have spark but, the switch gets me a lot. Could be a CDI but, where it was running before I doubt it.

I need to change the title, because it runs GREAT! I put the back brakes on this morning, finished up some details, and just for the heck of it, gave it a kick, and WHAM! First kick! This is running like a dream... new bearings are amazing, this must be what they felt like new. The thing runs strong, shifts flawlessly... wow. I am in love all over again! I wanna go riding!

No clue... it was late, hot and humid, I was frustrated... anyway, I just finished the break in procedure prescribed by my mechanic, and she's ready to RIP! Thanks for the possible solutions guys... glad it fixed itself! After putting around the yard for almost a year on 70's and 90's, this things feels like a beast! lol

There is a 2.5" hole "HRC tip" that lets you jet the main up much more along with holes in the AB lid or no lid...................
EDIT -Not much louder but very good gains...............

Absolutely. If you do not have the HRC "tip" I recommend getting one. I had one on my '06 R and it didn't make it much louder, just a deeper more throaty sound. Also provides a nice power gain. I'm sure you could find a new on on eBay for no much $

I think that's what's on Keister's 3fiddy. Weird thing is, his says "Honda" and mine says "Senkei"". Maybe mine is aftermarket? (He brought it over so I could use it as a template when putting mine back together, thanks Bill!)

The OEM one on my 450R said Senkei (or something like that) on it also.

Hey Matt - Just so you know - Senkei makes exhausts for Honda - just like Showa make forks for Honda. My 85 Big Red muffler says both Honda and Senkei.

OH! Well then it makes sense then... so why is your brother's so different from mine? Just different years?

his used to look identical until Brian shortened it. Different years may very well have different brandings on them. I am 100% positive my 450 muffler on my 350X says Honda and Nelson. Nelson would be another outsourced vendor making exhausts for Honda. No doubt there is subtle difference in stock 450R mufflers in the 5 years production run they had.

My pleasure. I should make it over tomorrow to see, er I mean ride it.
Change the thread title - it stresses me out.

Oh... I figured out what I meant to say... As far as how they look... mine has a factory spark arrestor and Bill's doesn't (I think)

Somebody pulled the guts out of mine before they sold it to me on ebay. Hence the custom job. Yours is stock.
