oil weight in my 85 tri z

i know that the oil i put in my tri z was not whats recomended, 5w, but could this effect where and how it reaches it powerband, it seems to get up to rpm really quickly now, any advise?

if your tri-z is a 2 stroke, then any 2 cycle oil should work. DO NOT USE 5w, 10w, or anything like that.
