Hi i have a 1985 250r that i just bought , the guy i bought it from told be that the engine was just rebuilt and not even broke in yet. So i was starting to break it in when i was riding around thought i all of a sudden lose power so i started to down shift and when i was in about 2nd gear it just bogged out. i could not get it started for the rest of the night. so the other day i was trying to get it started and i could only seem to get it started with the air box open , and then when it ran it wouldnt just idle, it would just bog out . i dont know whats wrong wondering if anyone out there could help me out??

check your carb sounds like to much fuel. also try it without the air filter, it maybe as simple as a very dirty air filter

This is your new bible: http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?55086-Carb-Jetting-101-Terms-Tips-and-Jetting-Theory&highlight=jetting

Start with ball park jetting - rich, fresh plug (check it out), clean air filter.

it refers to " ball park " figures ,cuz no two machines are the same due to mechanical differences, modifications, altitude , temp, ect ect this all affects your jetting so its kind of a general overview to get you in the right direction
