I bought a 1984 honda 200es for 160, It didnt run but it seemd complete plus an extra engine, 200m frame and a few other random parts came with it. Well the front forks felt really loose so i orderd some new bearings the new type with roller style instead of bbs, But when i got the forks off they rode it so long with bad bearings it broke the bottom half of the steering shaft, Sooo im looking for a new pair of forks. What forks will fit this bike? From what ive heard 200s forks will work but i will need a new front axel.

If any 200es owners out there have expirence what forks will fit. will the big red 250 work? i see a pair on ebay for a decent price.

The forks are the only thing holding me up now, The clutches were shot, the rings were shot, But i took the clutches out the old engine and put them in mine, I also installed a new set of rings, and a new wrist pin. I also put a xl200r cam in it( i was sort of stuck between the xl and the xr cam but the xl cam i was told has better low end and thats what i need). and soon a xr200r carb.

O also, Second question, The local shop are rape artist and i think this is bs but i will ask a second opinion. When i started my bike it smoked horribly so when i went to the local shop with the piston and wrist pin to order some new rings the pointed out the wrist pin had a groove on it, And they said the rod is probably bent and i will need a new rod they quoted me 800 dollars for a basic ring job, So i basically was thinking they want to make money off me with the replacing crank and rod thing. Would a bent rod cause the engine to smoke? The old rings looked pretty bad but the jug looked very good no weird wear marks or scratches seems if the rod was really bent it would be worn more. So i just went a bought a new wrist pin the old one had a slight ridge on each side.

O also with the xr200r carb, What jet should i order i remember reading somewhere it needed a diffrent size jet

did the 250es bolt right up and do they use the same bearings?

Ok, So upon further investigation it seems all i might need to get my forks strait is the triple tree. Will i need a 200es triple tree or would one off a 200s work?

I just bought a 1984 200es and it has 1985 250es forks on it. I don't know why they were changed, but it seems to work. The down side; all the front electrical connections are sitting in the cup that the removeable headlight cord should be in.

1985 200M forks fit great, have them on mine. The whole front end just swaps right over directly. search on the site and i have made posts about it already.

With the 200m forks, Does the big red hub and axel bolt right to it? Or would i need a 200m hub and axel also. i wouldnt think so since the es and m are the same width, but looking at the actual forks they are diffrent. The shocks mount the the triple tree diffrently.

Indeed they are different. But i do not know if the axle will fit. i had a complete front end, and swapped it over. I have the old one still. i could measure it out and see tomoro for you.
