I put an old 85 spec Westcoast swingarm I had laying round on my 86 KXT cause I was told the Westcoast was 4-over 85 spec back in the day....it measures 2ft 1in....When I was told the 86 was longer than a stock 85 I took my stock 86 to be bead blasted painted it and bought all new chain rubbers bearings and the works....it is 1ft 9in...All I know it the 85 westcoast swingarm went right on and it handles great,,,plus six axle too....Think maybe my unsprung weight is too much? Is the westcoast just regular steel or moly? It is slow to start a turn but is so stable you can flog it in corners...I would imagine the wheelies would be out of control if it were any shorter...It carries the front end in the first three now....I know it was a blast kickin the snot out of all the Briggs&Stratton powered go-cart junk in the dunes...
