On my 80 yamaha Tri-moto 125, all the plastics were painted black. Looks nasty, not cool looking at all.

I went to my salvage yard and bought a nearly mint shape rear fender assembly for 40 dollars with the seat. The seat itself is trashed but the seat frame is in good shape. My seat frame is all rusted out and unable to be used again.

So I brought the nice fender home and used some steel wool and it looks NICE. Still oxidized and dull but looks way better than my black fender.

So now I want to fix my tank covers and the front fender. What is the easiest way to remove the black paint from my plastics so that I can restore the plastic to its original yellow?

I always use " Super Clean " Just spray it on and in just a few minutes the paint will start to bubble off the fender, Hose off repeat if neccesary. It will not damage the plastic finish, use only this stuff, I gurantee it will work.

Where do you get that? Auto parts store I'm guessing,I'd like to try it .

Lacquer thinner or acetone will probably blister it. Brake parts cleaner is expensive, but it seems to wrinkle all the spray bomb paints I've used.

I had gotten white road paint on the side of my black Cherokee, and my painter told me to use Easy Off oven cleaner. Spray it on, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and powerwash off... Didnt wreck the base clear, and didnt hurt my plastic fender flares.... Weird as heck to do though, but worked well... (I do NOT know how it would affect plastic fenders)

wet sand the fender with 600 grit, then 1000 grit then move up to 1500 then 2000 and they will be clean and shinny

You can get Super Clean at wal-mart or auto zone ,it's in a purple jug and you may have to buy it by the gallon if they don't have the spray bottle. There is some chemical in it that acts like paint thinner but very mild. I recommend it for removing paint from plastics.

Gas will take it right off if it is spray paint just put it on and let it sit

Well I used Easy Off and after letting it sit 20 mninutes, the paint came right off with steel wool. I didn't really have to scrape or anything.

Now its a matter of restoring the actual plastic.

ok somebody painted my white fenders white with a real thick paint. yeah who paints fenders the same color that was already there? but this paint is thick and cracking, what would work well for this kind of paint and not hurt the plastics?

Acetone works well. Never tried Super Clean but it sounds like a winner too.
