I remember awhile back, somebody was trying to figure out what else would fit so as to use one of the Pivot Works kits, but I dont remember who it was or what they found. I believe it was the Warrior kit that the main components worked. If anybody knows, please let me know.

I know it is not the Blaster kit. Someone said it once, but I have both bikes and I know the blaster kit wont fit.

The Blaster seem to be the closest, with a lot of matching part numbers, depending on what year you compare it to. Its strange because it shows the 85 and 86 with different part numbers, but Im almost certain they are the same. The bearings, fiber bushings and seals from the 88 Blaster match the 86 Z. The steel bushings dont, as they are the same size on the Z, but different lengths on the Blaster. Also none of the other Yamahas seem to use the flat needle bearings between two washers on the end, or at least they dont seem to come in any other kit. Looks like If I bought a Blaster kit, and then purchsed the other pices I need to make it complete Id be spending just about the same as buying all OEM pieces from Partsfish at $93.66.

Hey, Tim Sr
If your going to get the parts via Partsfish.com then contact BigRedRunner. He may be able to save you some money. He mentioned on the board before about saving money for people. ;)
Here is his profile: http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=159

the blaster kit does work.i installed it last april on my tri-z. you will have to buy the flat needle bearings.the sleeves you will have to use your old ones or buy new ones but they rarely go bad.Tim Sr. had it right on the nose.

All I can use off a blaster pivot works kit is the caps on the ends and the seals. Thats it the bushings don't fit the needle bearings don't fit and there are no flat thrust washers. Honda uses the flat wahers in alot of their stuff though If you ask me bushings go bad too.

I was checking Bikebandit, and it shows the needle bearings and the bushings on the Blaster and the Z to be the same part number. The caps included down really wear out, and they dont have those sideways needle bearings for the ends. Id like to replace the pins too. Im looking at almost $100 for OEM stuff, but if I use the kit and buy whats missing its almost the same price. Ill probably just do OEM.
