View Full Version : How much low end power does a good running 350x have?

I'm finally fixing up the 350x including putting a new engine in. I've got an extra engine I'm going to rebuild but still trying to figure out how much to build it. My 350 runs pretty good, but I doubt it has the power it should. Everyone raves about the low end power of the 350x, don't get me wrong, it tries like hell everytime I take off in first to pop the front tire up, but when trying to gun it to get some air on a trail or when playing with whoops it's just not that impressive. Plus my uncle's 81 250r with low compression absolutely spanks my 350x on acceleration and top end. What I'm wondering is when I build the other motor does a stock 350x have the power to really gun up (and get air) whoops and such? I don't want to build this thing for low end power and have it flip every time I hit the throttle. I'm thinking of going with Wiesco 10.25:1 piston, megacycle 162-30 cam, and a light port and polish. I bought a new crank to send to powroll to be stroked for a 390x, but that may be overkill and a bit too pricey right now.

Why not throw down on the 452cc big bore kit too?

a well running stock 350x is a great trail bike but your right they lack alittle bit. With the cam, piston and head work the bike should be quite a bit different. You are also not really describing the correct power you want, sounds like you want more mid to top not LOW END. that megacycle cam and port work should get you where you want to be

i believe he was thinking about saving money as well? but the powroll 430 kits are very impressive and really affordable

Yah, you're right, I guess you're right, it is more mid range than anything. And yes, I was looking to save money. I've always been leery about stroker and big bore kits as I want this bike to still be reliable. I do a lot of trail riding and I did almost the exact same mods to my 200x awhile back and it's still my most reliable bike but much improved on the trails.

Like RideRed250R said, I'm not rolling in money. In fact this is actually a bad time, but my brother's friend offered to do the rebuild for free but he's only going to be here another month (Army). I rebuilt the 200x top end w/ cam and rejetting and such, but the extra 350x motor needs the cases split to replace the output shaft and both motors are in MO while I'm still in VA (Navy). Soo, if I get powroll to stroke my extra NOS crank, it's gonna take awhile and I just don't have the time to wait so I'm looking for off the shelf parts I can buy.

there are alot of stroker 350x's running out there in the world, and th epowroll kit is probably the only kit i know of that I see running just as long as the factory. I spent a bit of time on the phone with powroll and they seem to have made sure that the piston angles and life of the engine wouldnt go down the tubes. I dont know what Iam going to do with my project X but a 430cc 4 stroke sounds apealing.
