Hey everyone, just bought an old used axle off ebay for my 86' ATC250R, just wondering, does this look 100% correct? I mean the sprocket hub, paid almost $200 for it, just wanna be sure I'm getting the right thing; thanks.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

I'm pretty sure the sprocket hub is not supposed to have the stud bolts in it like that. All mine have always had removable Allen head countersunk bolts that hold the sprocket on. Also, that collar on the outside of the hub seems strange. Again, all my 86 hubs were flush on the outside with only the inner bearing seal shoulder on the inside. I'm far from an expert, but I'm sure someone who is will confirm or deny.

The whole sprocket hub looks backwards.........

DC...isn't that shoulder way too deep to even be right if it were turned around (mine are half inch, at best)? It sure looks like there is another shoulder on the far side too. I'm pretty sure the sprocket bolts on from the outside on these.
Oh, the things we don't really pay attention to in the moment on our own rides...lol
Upon 2nd inspection...that shoulder is at least an inch deep and the bolts are inch and a half with threads only half an inch deep. How would one tighten the sprocket to the hub without some massive spacer on there? To me, the axle looks spot on, but that hub is so wrong...

Yeah I have no idea, I'm after writing the seller, too bad I didn't more carefully look that over before pressing "Buy It Now" I'll let you guys know what he says, like you say, the axle looks right itself, however I really cant figure out what that hub is up to. Can you buy those sprocket hubs and put them on? Just in case it's gotta come off.

Here's a couple pics from my 86. Granted mine is aftermarket, but the stocker is very similar. There's no way that hub is right. I was wrong about the sprocket bolting on from the outside, but I was right about the countersunk allen head bolts. My sprocket is built in such a way that it can be unbolted and then rotated 90 degrees and slipped over the hub, canceling the need to remove the whole axle to remove the sprocket.

Yeah, I'll be interested to hear what that collar is all about. It's twice the depth of a "seal" surface but it shouldn't be there. It may be a cobbled hub/axle together just to work, IDK.........
200$!! Didn't anyone here have one in the classifieds for ya? we always have some great deals here!!

Yeah I've bought alot of stuff from this site, for some reason lately I've been using ebay, I guess it's the ability to simply press "Buy It Now." What's a good simple lock nut setup? I need to buy a new one for this axle, and I want a good one, but don't want to spend a pile, its just the lock nut if ya know what I mean.
