ok guys my r is still wearing its factory rear tires which are in nice shape, i would like to change to a more square tread area like a flat track look. i ride trails ,sand and some mud is possible, some of our hill climbs have turned into hard blackened clay, like a dirt track slick surface at a stock car track, it is causing tire spin in the last ten feet and three roll overs down the hill. so i need a good all around tire in a middle price range.

I run the ohtsu 501 awsome hook up in almost anything. I run them through some really ruff stuff and never got a flat.

The Kenda Knarly is a good tire. I run them on my 450R. they aren't as expensive as the ITP's but they don't work as well either. A tire I really liked was the Holeshot XCR in 20-10-9. Lower profile than the Knarly and a much better tire, but a more expensive tire. Best price I have seen on those is about 97 bucks each. You can always buy the stockers. yes, they are still available. The Ohtsu PV701. $52.99 retail. I assume you are talking about an 85-86 ATC250R?

SDXP, do the Kenda Knarly run large for their size? Do they measure as advertised? I will be getting some soon in 21x11x9.

the stock tires are more rounded and even at 3 lbs of air the contact patch id small . i would like a more square tire which will increase traction , having more contact area. i would go 200 for a pair, thanks for the suggestions

They aren't any bigger than the Rzr 2 in a 20". I liked them when they were new. I put holes in the sidewalls pretty quick.

You will love the Holeshot XCR. You could also go with the ITP GNCC.. Great tire just wears quickly.

You cant go wrong with a Holeshot, Maxxis Razor, or Turf Tamer.

The Turf Tamer is the best all around tire made period.

The Kenda knarley wears the edge off the knobbs to fast. making them worthless. The spacing on the knobbs are just too far. The Klaw is much better.

Rear tire choice is riding-style specific in my opinion.

A trail rider that is concerned with forward traction will probably like a Holeshot/Razor/etc....more than I do. They work very well in various terrain, but for me, they slow me down because of way to much sidebite.

A faster...sideways kinda rider will probably not like those choices as much. A Turf Tamer/C-826 will work better for kicking the rear out while still getting good forward traction in many terrains.

I'd rather have the stock rear tire than a Holeshot.
