Hey guys,
Bought this trike about 4 months for $20 with the intent to use as a parts bike. But decided to give it the old elbow grease & bring it back one more time. Do you guys think it's ok for a trail trike? So far, i have spent about $100, just need to decide what color to paint the rims? Purrs like a kitten & has a 110 engine.

thx,
bigworm

I think its great for a little trail bike. That rear bumper/grab bar is a bit crazy.. lol But I need something like that so my son doesn't run into the back to me.

No kidding on the rear bumber! Anyone kow if these are original or aftermarket bumbers for that year? The other 79 110 trike that picked up along with this bike has the same one.

Great job salvaging & bringing back from the dead. I painted rims with a alum. colored engine enamel. The silver color spiffy's it up nice. & leave the bumper. Both of my kids ran in the back of me this weekend. My daughter is notorious for it.-

I do have a liking for the rear bumber, plus i have to protect that 40 year old fiberglass fender. Can't wait to get it back on the trails. Vealmonkey, would keep the original handlebars or switch for something shorter? The chrome on thosse things definetly with stood the test of time.

If those handlebars are comfortable for you, roll with 'em. It's best when the trike is fitted for you, way more comfort and such. Also you have the aspect of the trike being personalized how you like it. I think you're doing a great job with the trike. Keep up the good work and soon you will be enjoying all your time and effort.

Vealmonkey,
On the third pic from left to right, near the foot brake, do know exactly what that metal tube is for? it has a hole at the end & is connected to the foot peg. Don't know where that connects to??

Can I get some critical analysis on this bike? Good or bad, just looking for some oversite opinions on any improvements & can still make on the bike. i know it's not a resto but it's far better than how it was before. Thx!

I'm just guessing but i think that boilts to the 90 cylinder. The early 90s had those odd/different foot pegs but all the years has the spot on the cylinder for that.

Oldskooll,
Those axles are wide bro, i love how they offset of the rear fender. I'm sure it will be safer & not have the tendency of tipping when cornering.
i will definetly go with black on the rims.

I'd get all the stuff for the headlight and tail light. I would go with the cheng shin copies of the original atc90 tires, since that is the only suspension you have. If you want a little more performance, find you a nice atc110 carb and intake, it will pep the trike up a little. Keep a couple spark pluges and points and condesners on hand also. You may want to find an old atc90 tool box for it and keep the stuff in it to change and set your points and condenser and plug, very handy out on the trail. Make sure your rear chain tensioner is in good shape. Also when you change the oil, make sure to clean your filter screen in side the clutch cover. A good flow of nice clean oil is very necessary on these old trikes. I also can't stress enough a proper tune up, timing, set valves and make sure your cam chain is properly tensioned. They can be quite fun and challenging without rear suspension. Enjoy how trikes were prior to 1981.

Thats about right with offset wheels and a stock axle. Heres a shot of my daughters 110 with 3x5 wheels and a stock axle.

Not a great pic but you can see how the tires are compared to the fenders.

Well, that pic was taken when it WAS my daughters.

Now it has my built up 110 motor and front aluminum wheel on it......so it's MINE.....lol

Vealmonkey,
The headlight will be a bit tricky i believe, for the US90, it's a 6v right? Also, my forks don't have the triangle flanges that screw on to the bucket. The rear bumper come with it's own taillight. For the tires, I'm going with the goodyears terra tires that are shown on the pics, for the the rr's 22x11x8 & the frnt 21x12x8. Thx for the tune up advise Vealmonkey, your the best! I have printed out the this thread to make sure all is covered before riding this classic!

how did you mount the 200x axle in there

When i got the trike, it came like that, I've been asking around to see if anyone had seen a set-up like this before. But no luck. Is it really from a 200X?

I think he was asking SWIGIN about his 200x rear axle. You can get universal headlight mounts and mount the headlight pretty easy. If you want something that looks stock and don't mind spending the money, Vintage Motorsports makes replica US90 headlight mounts. Yes, the lights are 6v.

I had a 78 90 and it had those same rear fenders and the stock axle with 3x5 wheels made it look like yours.

You wheels look offset so I'd bet you have the same setup, stock axle and offset wheels.

That pic was long before the 200x axle swap. Thats just a stock axle with offset wheels.
