They will work on the rims. I have a set of spyder tracks in the same size on a spare set of factory rims that I use in the snow. where in ct are you?

The bolt looks a little different In the end where the brake pedal goes on.....It looks a little longer...did you have it made that way?

It's a almost a necessity to have some different size jets around for those 2 strokes. You should be able to snag a nice kit on ebay for about 40.00 - it'll come with a bunch of different sizes. Check out this link

Jet kits are nice but Not necessary , Once you get the correct jetting tuned in for your 83R . All you will ever use is about 3 - 4 different jets through out the year , depending on where you live. If you want to save alittle money just tune it in then pick up the next 3 sizes bigger.

A local bike shop should have jets on hand. They usually cost around $5 for a main jet. Keep up the good work on the R!

Agreed...that link I showed him only came with 5 sizes of jets, which $30.00 isn't bad for all that and the nice case so you don't lose them.

Nice looking 2nd gen.

If you have the cash, try putting a 3rd gen front fender on there. You might like it.

Well despite all the happiness and joy all my boxes brought me today, I picked up my exhaust and was told they couldn’t order the head pipe to head seal and gasket. I just ordered one off eBay. I have new jets ranging from 150-200 we shall have to wait to start her until the gaskets get here.

Here are some pics... i haven’t even pulled the pipes out of the bags yet.

Looking super nice! I love the old air foolers!!

Simple and easy to fix, just make sure it's jetted right and you drill 2 holes in the piston to lubricate the all important exhaust bridge........... Wiseco tells you how to drill/position those holes, right in the box with the piston.

So this is how she sits right now..... Couldnt put the DG exhaust on because header gaskets were not in, i am missing 2 exhaust springs and 2 crank case bolts that hold the front sprocket guard on. So no starting yet either :( I also need my air filter and new fuel line with filter.

Do i need a gasket for in between the head pipe and silencer?

Well im in a bind again with the rebuild, its been one thing after another. I was attempting to take off the exhaust flange from the head and i managed to break all 3 of the bolts off in the head. Does anyone know were i can get a GOOD set of bolt extractors??? I have had bad luck in the past with breaking the extractor off in the bolt. I also was looking to get some left handed drill bits that wont break.

I still have to put the new bars and grips on.

Is any of the bolts exposed enough to weld a nut over it. If so do that and then when you have that done heat up the area with a torch till its good and hot and that should help get it out.

I have about a 20% success ratio with never outs. The bolt/ stud is seized and most likely has to be drilled out and probably helicoiled.

If you run into a jam, don't ruin it or snap stuff off or weld on them and I can get them out....... Read my sig.
