I just picked up an 87 big red and it needs a few parts to be original. Where can I find a parts manual and a shop manual?

The first thing I did was check / change the gear oil.
It's only 3 point 4 ounces of 80 weight HYpoid.
Make sure the shifter isn't loose on the splines.
Swing arm bearings are prob ok but if they've been wet, they can be a bear to get apart.
let's see, what else
Parts diagrams are actually more useful than the manual in many cases.
bikebandit.com has exploded views and my neighbor actually found bearing NUMBERS
on apache motorcycle parts in Arizona which saved us best part of 100 bucks from the honda dealer.
oh yea, you're gonna LOve this trike.
Most of the time, I'll just sit sidesaddle for doing farm work, it is SO well behaved and can almost read my mind.
I wouldn't trade mine for the world.
Oh, I'd also loosen the choke connection to the carb and drip in some marvels mystery oil since that choke enrichment piston has been know to get seriously stuck if they sit for a real long time.

Great info! I changed the oil in the rearend and motor and yes the shifter was loose. I have had two big reds and they are awesome! Just was readin the want ads and a guy had this 87 for sale, near perfect 1100 bucks!!!! He used it a few times a year and it sat inside the rest. I figured no way but it was just like he said. This stuff never happens, you can't make this up! Anyway thanks again I will post pics soon
