I just installed new Boyesen reeds on my 86 Tri-Z. Upon disassembly I saw that there were two gaskets between the reed cage and the cylinder. Is there any benefit to using two?, or did the previous owner just mess up? I re-assembled with just one.

two gaskets only makes room for more leaks!

Wasnt sure if the previous owner thought that by using two gaskets that it would be like a small spacer? If a spacer even helps.

The gasket is so thin it's not going to add any volume unlike a spacer which is like3/8 an inch thick.

one goes on each side of the reed cage.. then the stuffer go's on..there should be one between the jug and reed cage,, and one between the reed cage and Carb stuffer... air leak there is BAD!

Really? There is an o-ring on the peice that bolts it all together. So youre saying there is supposed to be 2? I just checked the oem parts schematic and it shows just the one between the cage and jug. The cage stuffer has an o-ring around the outside.

There is only one gasket on each side of the cage. I don't know what u mean by a stuffer though

Theres a paper gasket on the jug side and an o-ring gasket on the carb side. Am I correct?

theres no O ring on that rubber carb boot.. ,, theres a Groove in it.. I dont trust 30 year old rubber when you crank down all 4 bolts.. yamabond, or a gasket,, or a new sprock intake..

Mine has a rubber o-ring. Ill spray some brake clean on all intake parts today to see if there are any leaks.
