so i have a 84 200x roller, no engine. picked up an 86 200trx motor runs flawless with wiring ect. is there any way to stuff this engine in the frame without major modification, ie cutting down tube. I really want to get this project going. i thought the engine would fit but should have done some more homework. so would it fit in an 86 frame i know where there is one, I noticed the mounting is different.

i just got off the phone with the a guy i can pick up one rolling 200x, one frame two tanks and misc parts for 150.00, will the 200 trx motor mount in this frame? I know the cases changed in 86. really want to get a project going! and dont want to have two rolling chassis and one frame and an engine that cant be mounted into either.

Not 100% sure on this but... I think the trx motor wil fit in the 86 frame with SOME modifications. I think the rear upper motor mount?

Try searching for it. I think someone on here tried it but didnt quite finish it.

yeah ive been searching engine swaps all morning! came up with every engine swap but this one

You want to put it in an 84 chassis?? Gonna be lots of work........

They fit in the 86/87n frame buts its work too, you have a starter in that TRX, everyone would do it if it wasn't too bad to do.......................

I wanted to do this, as it has reverse + electric start (Why Honda didn't put this in all their trikes, I'll never know...........) but it's not the same as the 83-85 200x. Sprockets didn't line up, engine is different size and mounting locations are different. Supposedly the same as the 86/87 200X, but not the earlier ones.

You can use an XL185/200, XR200, 200x, 200m, 200s, 200, 185/185s engine in it.

yeah no way it would fit in the 84 85 frame but i did try lol... I am picking up 2 86 frames this weekend, should of had them last night but... stuff happens... so any one know where i can get a wiring harness for the 84? I have a 200s engine in it. but the valves where stuck and someone decided to hack the stator wires ect, i am trying to teach my son how to work on engines and learn simple wiring ( 3 wire systems) but I myself dont have any knowledge on this pulse thing of the cam gear. I am assuming it is like a magneto for the spark? and the stator is just for the lights.

yeah the reverse will be nice i always hated pushing from the front with the wheel coming up and dragging from the rear, grunt side step throw! lol.. thanks for the info on engines
