I am trying to figure out how to clean oil residue out of my ATC muffler. Top end was rebuilt but blow-by put a lot of oil in the muffler. It smokes once it warms up. as been ridden 10 hours and still does it. How to I clean it out?

Wow 10 hours and still doing it? I had the same problem after rebuilding my 200x but it only smoked for an hour. There was goo coming out the end of the muffler then it stopped.

Build a fire and put your muffler in it, that is how I have done the ones I have had to "de-goo".

what is FTW ???
Anyways, if you don't want to build a big fire, a little hot one will do just fine.
Although not as soaked as some mufflers i have had in the past, it will be interesting to see what the weight is after it has cooked over night.

FTW= "for the win", meaning it's the best solution, etc.

I have an xr70 muffler I will try first.. I have a large pile of brush for a fire anyways.. Might as well try it. I can weigh that pipe before and after to see what the difference is.

was the top end rebuild correctly measing oil rings up the right way? i would just fill it with gas and light it on fire, then paint it after words. you could also use a tourch from lowes or somthing.

Why not soak it in solvent?

I always soak it in cider. That is the best way I have found to clean out my pipe

Yep, this muffler was I burnt off was not very much "goo'd" up at all. It had quit smoking by the time I was ready for bed.
Others i have burned off smoked untill the next day.

FTW - For the win? More like F*** the world!!! Dont forget to pull the insert on the end, and install new muffler packing. If all the packing is gone/burnt out the machine will actually lose power in the low end torque range, and make the machine louder.

? Clean your 2 stroke (pipe) silencer muffler. might work for 4 strokes never tried it ... just ran 4 strokers hard for 2 weeks and it slowly stops. STEEL 2 stroke remove all plugs caps screens baffles etc from muff. oxy/ace torch. build heat at one end/spot. get it smokin good. dont burn a hole. shut of torch ace leave oxygen running at low press.... play with it. put tip in one end use a rag to wrap plug the hole around torch tip if ya want. set ouside wait 1/2 hour pipe will have burnt from one end to other. watch the burning spot move. Kool. really smokes. tap out crusty "coke" residue. now its lite weight and "modified". cleaner than bonfire. paint? . assy and ride hard. ALUMINUM a little tuffer as it MELTS at 1200 F.
