Hmmm, lets see a 1985 ATC 250R stored since 1990 very nice shape - traded for a KDX200. The trike is - stock bore, grips, bars and tires. However - bad rear caliper, 100$ by the time I'm done. Bad clutch, update kit and plates and actuator 200$ plus - missing plastic 200$, rings, water pump seal etc. and gaskets and misc. 300$ So I'm in this thing 2000$ and never even started it. Needs rear tires too 150$. It will be next to mint when done and I'm well aware of what you guys spend for a trike worth 1500$ to 2000$ when done but this is not a fun trip - I sure hope it's worth it

I'm aware that there is no performance comparison but my 250SX trikes just keep going and going and going and........

...and your 250R when completed will be GONE as in gone so far ahead of your sx

seriously when a machine sits for years it is actually worse for it then if it had been riden

Absolutely - it's just frustrating. - I've had a fast CR250, nice 200X, ridden a 350X - man that thing was FUN!!! I've tried out just about everything, but never a 250R. To me a typical 250R gone through probably runs someone about 3500$ inculding the 1000$ they paid, I'm just spending too much money right now. At least after I throw a leg over it I'll feel better. And knowing it's got little use for the last 13 yrs. is nice too!

If you dont want to spend money, I suggest selling it now.. lol

The thing will make you go broke, believe me. Im at just over $4000 on mine, and guess what..... its still sitting waiting for parts.

Lucky fot me though - the lower end is tight and the rerar axle, swing, carrier and linkages are all good. And it has 3 good tires so I'm almost done. If I get away with 2500$ for a nice low mile 250R I will be happy.

You guys build some very nice 250R's and spare no expense.

I thought the same thing about my bottom end.... things can change very fast dude. If your allready complaining about money, I serisouly suggest buying a 4 stroke.

Already have some 4 strokes, and the R is down to the center case, so unless the gears are shot - which shift fine by hand - I should be AOK. But I'll be happy to say "ya told me so" if there is a problem. And at that point I WILL part it out and get 80% or more of my $$. You see, I miss the 2 stroke lauch. Haven't you heard the song "You've got that 2 stroke feelin.... , Oh woh that 2 stroke feelin" :-D
