View Full Version : My friends believe trikes are more dangerous than quads

So I just got into an argument with a few "friends" of mine who are believing that trikes were fairly banned, and that they are more inherently dangerous than quads or even motorcycles because of the fact that trikes can roll a lot easier than either (I know, makes sense that a motorcycle won't roll as easily as a trike, right?). They also seem to believe that more people have been killed on trikes than quads or motorcycles.

I would like some links to the articles that state this and the statistics that say more people have been killed on trikes than on quads or motorcycles.

I should also mention that their dad got angered enough at me for just saying that "Trikes aren't any more dangerous than the rider who rides them" to where he kicked me off from ever going there again...

your friends are retarded go find new ones lol...
Imo, trikes are not safe for pansies sorry, and for them to say there have been more deaths on trikes is dumb because quads have 25 years on trikes and there are crap load more than trikes. I thought californians where open to things...

Find new friends they sound like losers all mine either think they're cool or that I'm crazy for liking such "old relics". Ask them how they feel when they roll there 800lb monster over on themselves and they are crushed to death or can't get free.

Are either of them "safe"? Maybe they should stick to the couch if they want completely safe, otherwise keep their mouths shut, because it wouldn't hard at all to argue quads are unsafe too. Better ban ladders, skateboards and canoes too.

They're great friends and all, but for some reason they were totally against trikes tonight! I've even let them ride my 110 before and they loved it..

And they're the dare devil "We don't give a ---- what you think." kind of people.

i reckon that quads would be even more dangerous than trikes. reason being that first of all they are ALOT bigger and heavier and secondly people have an even greater belief that they dont roll, coz they have 4 wheels which would make them overly confident when riding and would more often that not exceed their riding skill. for beginners that is.

what was the biggest heaviest trike? now compare that to the biggest heaviest quad these days!

that is exactly what i think. people on 4 wheels tend to have bigger heads and think there bike is bullet proof. and most of them are not.

watch funniest home videos.

some fat jack... with a kid in front flipping a quad over backwards in a mudpuddle.

400 pound of machine holding you AND a little kid underwater?

their fiends ran in to help and didnt even spill their beers.

very funny, eh?

they should try skaeboarding on trampolines and simply remove themselves from the gene pool before they reproduce

A lot of 4wd quads are in the 600-800 lb range. That's more than double the weight of my trike. More weight to come crashing down on you, and more weight to overwhelm any effort of counterbalance with your say 200 lb body.

Pick your battles. There's nothing to be won, and probably just friends to be lost by arguing the matter with them. Easier said than done though!!

There wrong imo quads are more dangerous. i watched the idiot down the road from me roll his raptor 5 or 6 times down a hill as i sat at the top on trike laughing at him then i went down with no problem

Yeah another thing their dad claims is on the steeper dunes is that a trike will roll a lot easier than a quad if they lose all their speed going up.

quads are safer but their riders are not. the problem with quads are you can get to spots were you shouldn't be and then you are in trouble. On a trike you see a spot and say nope not a smart move and you move on

Apparently quads are not safer now...

i started riding my 110 when i was 6 years old. i moved up to a 1986 trx200sx a few years later (9ish years old) i thought with 4 wheels i could go super fast around turned without needing to lean. i booked it in 3rd gear and yanked the handlebar to turn....i then ate it and realized thats not how it works lol

It does me as well. I'm usually all for fun, no matter how many wheels it has, but stuff like that infuriates me.

Quads are safer that trikes. I see people here dont want to admit it lol, but its the truth.

quads are definitely more forgiving

Anything can hurt you if you don't know how to operate it or go beyond its or your limits. A plastic bag will kill you if used improperly.

Grizzlypeg

Part of human nature is to find the limits and gravitate to that point. So vehicle A rolls over at 20 percent further speed, angle, etc than vehicle B. Driver of vehicle A just drives it harder into the turn or climbs a steeper hill, etc and still finds the limits. They can all roll or flip, what's how hard got to do with it, unless one is exceedingly unstable, and trikes are not exceedingly unstable. The quad that seems untippable will just tip on a steeper hill or more abrupt turn. Safety implies that we know the limits and stay within the boundries of safety. So safety is a function of the user, not the machine.

For sure quads aren't any safer than trikes. If you have a dumb operator on board, then either will be a highly dangerous machine.

I'm with 3wheels, I almost got killed by a gas tank on my car. My friend newrider3 thinks they are awesome, he slid today and now knows the limits.
