Well i went and got the 250R i posted about a week ago or so. She looks pretty ruff but seems to run good. Ill take pics tomorrow kinda embarrassing but hey you have to start somewhere. I never got it out of 2nd gear when i test rode it and never let it really warm up good. Ill open her up tomorrow after i get off of work. Motor seems ok as well as tranny. Needs all new plastics though and rear tires. Over all im just happy to finally have liquid R. Drove about 2 1/2 hours and paid $600 for her. Overall I actually paid $300 cause i made some money off of stuff i either got for free or cheap so it was extra cash to buy it.

Good job dawg. I have an 18 hr. round trip for 4 trikes (3 for buddy 1 for my son), sure takes some work to round em' up.

Awesome, I'm looking for an 85-86 250R as well. I'm not having very good luck finding a deal like you found though.

Noticed it has a oil leak after riding her a min ago. Not sure were its coming from but seems like out of the shifter shaft maybe. Also maybe a gas leak from the carb. Runs good though but needs some TLC. I think im gonna buy some god used fenders and shrouds to start out with and then this winter ill tear her down and do a frame off.

at least it runs...i just drove 2 1/2 hours to pick up an 85 in clean shape, but has a no spark issue. Polished forks, and triple clamps, renthal bars, fmf pipe and silencer decent plastics and I only paid $525 for her:D

Sometimes the chains fall off and then jam up in the shift shaft and bends them a bit. I remove them, unbend them and toss them back in with a new seal.......
Some of the chain "wrap arounds" arent't too bad with little casualty. Other times they just keep riding them, the chain falls off 10 times and finally, the left case gets epoxied and IMO - ruined.
I'll get a Tig SOMEDAY guys, I promise!! Then I'll fix all your left side cases once you dry up the resources :C
If the "BOSS" for the chain cover/protector is broken and or cracked, it's safe to sy that was the issue........
Looks like a GREAT START! Probably stock tires so you can see how much wear and time is actually on the motor. These Honda trikes thing nothing about running 30 or more years.
Get the maintenance done, get it back up to snuff by replacing all the bearings and change all the fluids and ENJOY!!
Nice find!! Cheap too :D

shake the rear end around from the back. If you have slop in the rear axel the bearings are shot and that will cause "shakeyness" if its pulling left try letting some air out of the right tire, worked for me mine was doing it to real bad.
