85 200x questions

Hey guys whats up. My buddy has a 85 (I think) 200x in pretty good shape that he will sell me for $750. The Plastics have the normal cracks and splits from wheelies and stuff, but the bike isnt in bad shape. Is this a good deal? I would like to get it to run with my buddies piped blaster in a drag but without sacrificing its reliability. I just want to know what I can get for this trike to make it handle better and go faster. I do alot of woods riding and some wide open field runs and stuff like that, no real track racing or nuthin. I also want to know about parts availability and what motors will fit. I wouldn't mind puting a CR125 motor in or even a blaster motor or a a xr motor. Thanks for all of the help in advance.

I've been looking at these things for a while and just bought an '86 200x myself. The 85 and 86 are totally different and I paid quite a bit more for the '86. If his still has the stock exhaust, I would start there with the mods. Parts for the '85 should be relatively easy to come by because many will interchange with the '83-'85. I wouldn't suggest tweaking the motor too much because you will sacrifice reliability. Oh, and for $750, GET IT. That's a good price if it's in good shape. Anybody else got ideas for mods?

Whats the difforance between the 85 and 86 just out of curiosity?

The 85 and 86 200x's were totally diffrent machines. The 86-87 200x's were made much better, nearly EVERYTHING was changed by Honda to make them better. (square frame tubeing, better suspension, 6 speed) If you saw a picture of one compared to the 85, you would easily reconize the diffrance.

750 isnt a bad price but isnt a steal either, parts are relitivly easy to come by and cheaper then the 86-87, the 86-87 doesnt offer anything as far as aftermarket stuff also

Please help me. I have it in my brain now that I want to do something sick with this 200x. Any Ideas?

i bored mine out 80 over($50),high compression piston kit($70), dg exhaust($300), stainless valves($75),barnett high performance clutch kit($80).i'm playing with the gearing now.

RUNS ON ALKY ONLY!!!
it can smoke a stock blaster untill they hit 6th gear(been thinking about putting a 6 speed tranny in mine,not sure if i can but i will see)
