Hello everyone,

Long story short, I picked up an ATC 90 for 50 bucks and it is almost complete except the front headlight housing is smashed and the Main/Headlight Switch is broken. The owner was going to try and fix it and took out the coil and disconnected the wiring harness (the harness is complete as it is still covered in the plastic type cover that is so old now it breaks if bent). I am trying to figure out how it all goes back together. I have the wiring diagram but know very little about wiring or small engines in general.

I don't understand what is going on with the coil and condenser or how they need to be wired without the main switch. The coil has two wires, black and green that come out of it opposite the spark plug wire. There is also a green wire with a white tube on it that looks like it grounds right to the coil housing. Connected to the coil housing is the condenser that has a green wire coming out of that branches into a clip that will support two wires plugging into it. What wires plug in there?

Could I just run the black wire from the AC Generator to the black wire coming from the coil? Then does the green wire from the contact breaker (points) plug into the condenser with the green wire from the coil? Do I need to do anything with the yellow wire coming from the AC Generator? Does the coil housing act as the ground when it is connected to the frame? I could care less about the lights right now as I just want to see if I can get it working.

Can it even be done to run it without the switches, kill switch included? I just want to see if there is spark before I invest any money into it. It seems in pretty good shape, expect for the headlight issue.

I appreciate the help and look forward to any advice you can give.

Everything should be color coded with the wires, so I'd say just start hooking wires up together that look like they go there.

I'm going to guess and say that you're going to need an ignition switch to run it.
