Thinking about getting an R

I'm thinking about buying an '85 250R from an ad on craigslist. No pictures yet, but it needs new seals for the forks, and runs good. New tires, FMF pipe. Sounds like it's in good condition. Thinks it's worth $700? :)

How hard would it be to replace the seals?

normaly you need more then seals, stock 25 year old forks are normaly due for springs, seal bushings . i dont do forks, i hate the mess, i pay a friend at a dealer.

Do you think I could get away with just replacing the seals for a couple days out in the desert? Or is it one of those things that needs to be done before riding?

look at it this way if your gonna piss $30 for seals, they one day your gonna have to prob redo it again. i cant stand to see things attempted half a$$ed. you can ride on leaking forks if you wanna wait to redo the trike down the road.

Problem is I'll probably only be able to buy the trike, and maybe the seals. Me and a bunch of friends are supposed to hit up the desert next weekend, and I've been looking all around for a 200x or 250r that I can get before then.
