Went and picked up this little gem for $350 today, it's an 1982 185s. I bought it from the original owner who got it back in '82 and used it as a vehicle at his lake house so it's a low hour machine and all original besides the front tire, seat cover and grips. It is in good condition and started up first pull despite the pull rope being stuck out and the other thing is there is a big crack on the left side of the fender from someone putting their foot down....It has it's original toolkit and title fron 1982!
Like I said the pull cord is stuck out and has about 3-4" of pull out but doesn't go back in, is this an easy fix? I also need to find the manual for it as well.
Cellphone pics, I'll get better ones later.

That looks pretty nice. I had an 82 185s also. I would try greasing the pull starter, or rebuild it. Not too hard to do.

Nice snag bro! I would just rewind the pull start to spec again! Hey are you pumped about Sublime is coming out to play again? It's never the same with out Nowell but it's worth a shot! I hear Romero ther frontmen sounds just like him, that's the reaon why there attemting to get back together.

i had the rope stay out on my 185 and the problem was that there was no gasket between the starter and the motor. it could also just be the spring. looks like a great trike.

Shiny looking trike! Needs some mud under the fenders :p
As for the pullstart, I would try to rewind the spring on it and regrease.

So the starter is pretty beat actually, I took it all apart and there was dirt/mud/crap in there. I kinda would like to just buy a whole assembly since I took mine all apart....Anyone have one for sale?

A nice looking trike for the price. Beware of the tires though, they look over inflated and that could mean trouble and danger.

Well I got the staryer assembly completely apart yesterday but it looks like a real trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro to put back together...the spring definitely looks stretched out and it was filled with dirt and crap :/

So is the pull start assembly with the decompression cable hole really rare or something? I am finding tons of 185/200's pull start aseemblies but none of them have the decompression cable....wtf!

Yeah they are more rare if they have the decomp setup. I sold a complete pull starter with cable for about $100 after bidding ended on eBay around 3 years ago.

In your second pix it looks like you have the linkage. Maybe all you need is the cable. These pix are from my "82 185s. Just took them. NICE trike. GREAT price.

Nice. My 185 has almost the same crack in the exact same place. and my starter doesnt have the decompression thing, but it has the lever on the cover. what is this for?? it ran fine without it...
