Does anyone else like the old balloon tire for AT/trail riding? I just picked up the 250sx and I'm going to keep the wide front tire in it. I ride in sugar sand and mud (Florida) and I notice that the old fashioned balloon knobbies work great.

i like fat fronts, high flotation and a smoother ride for the no suspension machines. I dont need the advantage for steering a smaller front tires gives, i can already turn on a dime to the point where ill tip. lol

alot of people switch over to the 200X setup , only to return back to the original setup. the 250SX is such a great all around bike, the narrow front tire takes away a part of that. It does look awesome with the 350X headlight and disc brakes, but the Honda engineers, once again, knew exactly what they were building. They amaze me still...some 25 years later!

You cant beat a hard tail with fatty tires in the mud or blazing your own trail in the woods. Im trying to get a cheap 200s or something like that because with this tri-z you just cant go slow in the woods as easily as with an auto clutch.

I hafta agree on the versatility of the fat tire. My daughters 125m goes right through streams with out a hitch, our 200x dives and soaks me, lol, she doesn't bog down, jus' putts across.

Hah, big fat tires are awesome. My 110 just puts right on through the mud puddles we get up here in the rain :)

i have noticed that the fat front tire on my 82 250r seems to wana walk around more on hard packed surface... the skinny tall tire handles a little better but definatley isnt the best for flotation. soo i guess it depends on the application. but hell yea i likes it alot lol

if i could buy 3 yamaha stock knobbies brand new or close to new i would pay a lot for them because there the best all around tire out there in my opinion.

Sometimes you really have to watch what kind of tread or tread pattern you use on the wider front tires, especially for higher speeds. Not near as critical on a 110, but it gets to be more of an issue on a 185/200 trike, especially if you have hopped it up somewhat. What works well on trails or rocks or dirt, doesn't always work well for pavement, so be careful.

Yeah, trailpro's are an example of that, I love them for mud riding, but there harder then a rock, makes the ride stiff. I have them on my 200s in the rears.

Agreed; I like the wide stock tires in front. They work better in everything soft from marsh to snow!

I saw a 84 250r with three wooly boogers and it was flying, though I thought the front would slide around but with low pressure it didn't.

I have found in mudd and water with rocks the buckshot mudders are great too.
