Just wanted to show off my obsession with the 200cc 4 stroke Honda trikes and what one can do with their power plants.

'84 200M (Blue/Red) - Custom exhaust and bodywork.
'84 200S (Gray/Red) - Sleeper XR200R top end on 200S block, over sized tires.
'85 LT-230 (Orange) - 200E engine, cobra exhaust.
'87 TRX200SX (Red/White?Black) - 200S block, custom exhaust.

And then there is the 350X chassis with a 200S bottom end bolted in for mock up, it will most likely get the 200S/XR200R hybrid block and the block in it will go into the 200S chassis once it's rebuilt..

I love'em cuz I just can't kill'em!

I like the quad sport. The 230 engine just didn't have the longevity of the Honda for some reason.

When the quad sport and quad racer came out, I remember lusting after them as a kid.

id love to put an XR600 engine in 185, wonder if it would work. hey J-roc have you ever ridden a 185s? just wondering how much difference that extra 20cc make to power. 185s are actually only 180 cc

vl5150, that was the exact reason for doing that build, the 230 suzuki engine is junk... Now it has a new purpose, no longer just a sport quad, it's now a sport MUD quad, hahaha! Hi/low range plus electric start is far better then what the OEM engine could offer anyway.

Sorry Pete, I never had the pleasure of riding the 185s. But I'm sure there has got to be some noticeable difference.

As for jamming an XR600 engine into the 185s, now that would be insane! Anyone want to donate their XR600 or 650 engine? I have many chassis just lying around waiting for a transplant, lol.

Cheers.

^ All the atc 200/200s are actucally 192cc engines. That only makes them 12cc bigger than the 185 (which as stated above is 180cc) I have both, and to be honost, there is little to no difference betwen the two motor wise, they both seem to have the same power.

only 192cc's for the 200's. spewing. my brother has restored a 74atc90 which has been bored to 105cc, and between that and my 125, which is actually 124cc, 19cc difference. the power torq

200's only 192cc? spewin. my brother restored a 74 atc90 which is 89cc, is now 105cc.

same as atc110 size.

and between the(105cc)90 and my 125m (which is actually 124cc) 19cc makes a big difference when riding the two. the 125m is signifacantly more powerful/torque.

and then gettin on the 185s after that, makes 'em both seem gutless

Back in 1985 I picked up a KDX 200 Kawasaki with a 200 Honda engine in it. Loved the bike until my friend thought he would clean the hot engine with cold water. Cracked the block in the front of the engine.

100% agree. I have both as well and there is no difference that I can tell. They are both ROCK SOLID engines though and a blast to ride. I am like 230lb and those 185/200's just barrell along like no one's business.

oh and as for putting the 185/200 in the quad lt frame, was there any frame mods that went into it?

I started putting a 200s engine in KYmco 150 utility ATV for my wife.. but since my new engine blew second gear its on hold to I get another spare bottom end. I like riding the ATC 200's more then I like my 200x.

It's funny how in the early days Honda was very stingy with the CC's such as the case between the 185 and 200. Also the ATC 90 and 110. Now they seem to give up the CC's like nobody's business.
