The town I recentlly moved to allows atv's to operate on the roads here as a car would. I have been lookin but can't seem to find a tire that would work for tar. I mean they all can drive on tar of course but that causes more headache! I've seen some tires on members trikes that look like they would work great, so let's hear your thoughts guys!

Mr. RPM-

Thanks man, exactlly what I have been looking for! I think Im gonna go with these... I see alot of the trikes on here running a tire similar but their rears appear to be almost a "low Pro" tire like on all those honda cars and etc... Should i run a particular size tire? Ive got tons of rims but I think they are all stock sizes with maybe the exception of the gold ones I got laying around somehwere...

I have Carlisle All Trails on my trike. They claim to be designed for running on UTV's on hard surfaces.

what machine are these going on? genuinely these type of tires are used for TT racing and they like to have em sit as low as possible so they run 18 inch tall tires.
20 inch tires are also great, doesnt lower your gearing a whole lot but still gives you a low stance. 20s are stock for alot of machines too.
also with TT racing they like to have low profile tires so they have minimal tire flex. so with 20 inch tires they run 10 in rims (20-11-10) and im not sure what the most popular set up for 18s are but 8 inch or bigger would give that low profile feel.

I would run 18's for better stability and cornering as well. Just bump up your gearing accordly.

General rule of thumb, 2 inchs in tire size is 1 tooth on your front sprocket.

So I went to 18's on my MX R, and went up to a 14 to maintain "stock" gearing.

Did you verify by atv's they mean trikes? lol I can see it now. No 3wheelers allowed on the streets but quads are ok

They are either going to go on an '85 200X or an '83 250R, I havent decided which one I want to use yet. I dont want to have to mess with changing sprockets if I dont need to. I would like to be able to just swap out tires for tar/dirt Ive got extra rims and hubs laying around so thought maybe I could make something like that work.
