I done several searches for these and can only find limited information. Basically that is what I am looking for. Information. I recently purchased these while at a ride this weekend from a local. Said his son has had them for years and did'nt need them. I pretty much figure they are rare because I have never seen any others like them. So how bout it all you guru's out there??? (shortline, Kasey, Freak) Gimme some info and history on the tires. Also, at this point, I have not fully decided if I'm gonna keep these or put them up for sale, so please don't bombard me with p.m.s and reply's asking for a price or if I'm gonna sell them. If I do decide, there will be a post in the classifieds.

These tires look like Ohstu flat track race tires for the Honda Race Team, as memory serves. These were used on true "Flat Track" race events. The rubber is rather hard as seen in lots of dirt track tires. The rims look original Honda but have been stripped of the gold. They would not likely been made available to the general public as if they had tested good/great, and were provided to the race team they would not want other" Non" Honda race team riders, using them. Though they may have been released later on by ohtsu, and not been popular as they would only be good on flat Track events which were ever fading. They would not work at all like the ever popular Turf tammers of the day.
They could have even been stolen off a Honda Race team truck, during some races or by a mechanic and or flunky helper type person. And squirrelled away due to fear of getting caught.
Thats my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info guys. Still would like some more info on these.

Freak, sorry bud. Don't think these will be up for sale, let alone free.

I guess I'll keep an eye on this thread in case some of the old racers can chime in.

I recognized those tires when I first saw them, those are the Ohtsu H-trak tires used by Team Honda. Although I think they prefered the other style tire. The one on top of the ladder and underneath yours on the stack. Seems like those always show up on the pictures I have of Team Honda machines at races in 3Wheeling magazine.

I have the Ohtsu Pro-Comp 301's. These were used by Honda on they're 250R's and 350X's in the Baja 1000 and other desert entries. I'm planning on building a Team Honda Baja 1000 replica and I plan on using these tires. Your flat track tires would be awesome for a flat track build like the one Buster Brown is doing currently. Right now I see he has a NOS set of the other style Ohtsu flat track tire. Seems like I've seen other flat track builds and they always use the type Buster Brown is using, it would be nice to see how yours would look mounted up on some shiney polished wheels or even gold OEM's.

Cool. Those 901s are killer. I'd definitely spring some $$ for them. The 301s are really neat too. I see soilmec has a set for sale on feBay currently(301). Good luck on your builds!

Those flattrack tire I have seen before but not often, a rare piece there.

As for the Pro Comp 301s, I used then back when racing 3 and 4 wheelers cross country, that was the tire we all used. A great tire since it was the perfect height 20" tall, not to low like a skidplate beating 18" but handled well compare to a 22". Traction was good when new, but when they stared to show wear they did not fair so well. The main reason was it was a 4ply tire and no one else ws making a 4ply, the regular tire did not hold up to the abuse of racing. Air in a tire was more important then traction at a GNCC or desert race. Team Honda had a 6ply version of that tire that was not available to the public for the desert racers. I have seen them and one was donated to a now large tire company to examine there construction for there tires. I still have a set of 301 on the front of one of my quads, it was a tough tire.

Thanks alot guys. Currently they are on the wifes RacerX. Gives it that old school look. I'll have to get some pics up shortly. Sorry guys, as of right now, I have no plans on selling these. (or even running them) Very rare me thinks.
