'84 200x

Have a 200x I am building and finally fired it up now it only runs with choke on, it actually runs quite good idle and throttle response. When I flip it off it kills bike any ideas? Also is there a copper O gasket that goes between exhaust header and motor?

On the choke issue, I would:

1)check for vacuum leaks
2) adjust idle mixture
3) remove and clean carburetor internals

Yes, there is a gasket.
