took the 250sx out for the weekend. rode it on the trailer, drove 1.5 hours, rode it off. set up camp went to fire it up...nothing. this bike was always called "Ol reliable" for a reason. never any problems. after looking... NO SPARK!!!! coil, plug boot, and plug are good put on my 4 wheeler and spark. ignition good, cuts power on and off. electric start doesnt work, but when you kick it neutral light and head light get power. all connections good and clean. thinking kill switch on the handlebars or cdi. what do you all think???

85 br here acts the same.

If I understand you correctly, like mine will not start with the key on, neutral light on.

If I disconnect the battery and kick it, it WILL start and the neutral light glows as it powers up from the stator voltage spin.

Do you mean the electric start doesNOT work as in no spin? or it wont start with the starter...cause That's exACTly what Ive got here.

Some guy said he cleaned his kill switch after 2 weeks of frustration which I didnt understand since it only Kills the ign spark, right?

but after obsessing on the wire diagram, the kill switch ground MAY also provide good ground for the cdi in addition to the killer ground.

I just bought another trike and parked THAT one so let me know what you find...please

Sound's like a possible neatural safety switch which is located on the bottom right side of the motor as you sit on the machine fella's.Sound's like it anyway's.Check and make sure it's nice and snug down there.Other than that i'd get the ohm and start with the switch and work my way back to the stator, could also be a fuse the BR has a few inline fuses located back by the seat, under the side panel ,left side as you sit on it I believe also. And a mess of wire's under the headlight cover also. But my money is on the neatural safety switch or your reverse linkage is sticking, which will still let you roll it freely but stick's sometime.Hope that help's ya ..

i dont even have a battery in mine cause the starter does not work. fuse is good. when i put jumper cables from another bike the lights work and neutral light works. everything works just not getting anything to coil.
