mono shock on 250sx

how often should mono shock be replaced on the 250sx, dose tightening the spring on it give a smoother ride or dose loosening it up give the best ride?...also i seem to have some play in the parking brake handle it moves up and down is there a bushing that needs to be replaced? i tightened it but is still has some play in it.

They aren't made for a plush comfy ride and bottom easy. It's basically a sport/utility trike. You can get a WORKS shock for it (others have and like them) but I believe they'll set you back 400$ or so.

I love my SX, but I stopped dicken with other shocks and just moved up to an 86 200X and 350X.

Unless your 125lbs soaking wet, you should be on the hardest setting. Any used one will give you the same result unless yours is blown and bouncing around like a pogo stick.......
