I run rotella t 10-40 in my 450. It is a great oil and if it can take the abuse of a diesel then it can take all the abuse that I will give it in my 450. Also run it in my duramax so always have it around anyways. I found this out through many dirt bike guys that have done it for years with no problems. I have no complaints and it is priced right also. I change my oil every 5 hours of ride time, according to my hour meter, so it would get rather expensive to run a high dollar oil.

I love threads on oil! We need more of them.

Honda's oil is always my favorite, there are 3 types. general, sythetic blend, or all synthetic. the general GN-4 will be more than enough to get the job done.
yamalube is great too.

i run shell rotella in all my machines, the stuff in the white bottle, i change it a few times a year on the off road toys, ever 4K for the streetbikes. many miles and hours here, runs good but that just what i choose to run, what should you run...if you wanna follow the manual you should run the sugjested oil in there. besides that your just going to get what people use, every answer will vary.....kinda like what brand of undies do ya wear....

Any oil meant for 4-stroke atvs or motorcycles (look for it to say wet clutch compatible on the bottle) will work just fine. Normally it will be around the 10w-40 weight. You don't have to run any fancy brands, just buy what you can afford.

Honda oil in a Yamaha will equal immediate destruction of all the internal parts, and any near by Yamahas. Ok not really.

Run clean oil, the general consensus for best oil for the money seems like Valvoline ATV or motorcycle oil. Can't say for a Yamaha for sure but all the Honda 3 wheelers are pre-wet clutch oil.

Pretty much any only thats spark rated and clean will make your machine happy. I run diesel oil in the summer and regular auto 5-30 in the winter (gets below zero here). But that's me. If you change your oil frequently that's all that matters.

yeah, the yamaha is also a wet clutch, oh and guys i got a question, whats the difference between diesel oil and 4-stroke oil? why run the diesel oil over the atv oil?

Diesel oil has more detergents, and will not lose viscosity as quickly as regular oil. It also has a high content of additives that reduce wear. Basically it is a higher grade of oil. If you use reg oil in a diesel it will break down and lose viscosity. I guess I've never seen the results but I imagine it wouldn't be good.

The rotella T is supposed to be fine on wet clutches, and I used it in my Yamaha Grizzly without problems.
