I just bought a beautiful 70 for my daughter. Problem is I thought it had a bad coil. I put one on off of a friends 70 and it fired right up. So I bought a new one for mine and it has no spark. Cleaned the points and put my buddies coil back on and still nothing. Points look to be fine and timed right. On a lighter note my buddy stuck a screwdriver into the end of the spark plug wire and got a jolt. So i dont know where to look next. Plug a spark plug in and ground it and nothing. Any help would be great because my daughter is real excited to ride.

Maybe something to do with your kill switch? Try disconnecting it, its the wire that grounds on the coil. I have found if you take the stator wire that comes out to the coil and hold it to the engine case it should make a good spark when pulling it over. Then you know if your stator, points, and condensor are working properly.

points......throw a new set in and set em' .....that is where I would start if you messed with no other wiring or components in the process.
