On my 85 tri-z, the throttle cable has a weird plastic box type thingy, part way between the thumb lever and the carb, wondering what the heck this is for and can i just replace the cable and eliminate the thingy? it works ok but I think I could get a smootheer throttle action with that thing gone.
Any geusses or answers would be great!

here is the sku for the tri z throttle cable. http://www.powerpartsplus.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx The wierd box is the cable connector, your throttle has a 2 peice throttle cable. You might be able to eliminate this with a one peice cable but would not recommend it. I think you just need to replace your 2 peice throttle cables and lube the connector.
