This is really cheesing me off.....
The petcock on my R keeps dribbling when in the OFF position. Ive looked at the rubber disc, spring washer, and all parts, it all checks out OK, is this a defect on these or is it just excessively worn?????
Also carb overflows, but got that answered, carb rebuild kit and float is on its way.
P***es me off.

Replace it with a aftermarket Pingel fuel petcock they are the best

Did you clean the surface of the shut off it's self where it meets the surface of the rubber? The rubber gets scored from the ruff surface of the valve. I've used steel wool to clean it(valve surface) and metal polish to totally smooth it out. If the rubber is scored, I've used a super thin coat of RTV sealant.
Also the spring steel ring which adds pressure to the seal, LIGHTLY bend it more(if it needs it) to add tension. If the threads are wore down at the petcock bowl use teflon tape to reseal. Hope one of these helps ...Beets

Sometimes some motor oil on the rubber disk will let it swell some since it is probably 25 years old and really dry.

$61.92, I suspect buying new may help to keep them available and not becoming disco like all the other parts.

Hell yeah, I am getting either a new one or a pingel. I run pingels on all my Harleys and they work. Thanks Mr. Clean!
