I'm looking to pick up another 70. The one I have now has a 4spd. If I understand correctly the 78's-81's? had the 3spd motors. Is there a big noticable difference in speed or acceleration? Should I stay away from the 3 spds?:wondering: Thanks guys!

I know for a fact that the 4-speeds are more durable. The gears and clutch were beefed up over the earlier models.

It took forever to find an 85' all-up 4-speed tranny to swap into my CRF50 when I was doing the engine. I wanted a strong bottom end and that was my solution. Cheaper and stronger than the aftermarket 4-speeds.
